Server Runtime

The server runtime runs your project on a Linux machine with 2 vCPU and 4 GB of memory. Use it when the project needs Linux software the browser runtime can’t run, when you want Codex, or when you want to preview the app on a phone.

  • A full Linux environment with Node.js and Bun. Install packages with bun add, and system tools from the terminal.
  • Your dev server — started with bun run dev and shown in the preview, which works on phones too.
  • All four terminal agents — Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and Pi.
  • A terminal with as many bash tabs as you need, plus the dev server’s log.

The project’s files live in /shared/project on the machine.

  • One machine per member. Each team member gets their own machine for the project, so you can each run agents and dev servers without getting in each other’s way.
  • It sleeps when idle. The machine stops after about five minutes without activity and starts again when you come back. Your saved versions and unsaved changes are kept.
  • Unused machines are cleaned up after 30 days. The project itself isn’t affected.
  • Agent logins carry over. Your saved agent logins are added to the machine when it starts, and refreshed tokens are saved back to your account.

The server runtime is part of the Plus plan. Each seat adds 40 compute hours a month to a pool the whole team shares, and time counts while a machine is running.

Choose Server when creating a project, or change an existing project in Settings → Advanced → Runtime. See Browser vs Server for when each one fits.
