Pi

Pi is a minimal, open-source terminal coding agent that works with a wide range of model providers. In Frontend it runs on both the browser and server runtimes, on every plan.

Click Pi in the sidebar’s Agents group. It opens in the left panel with the project as its working directory.

The first time, run /login and choose a provider. Pi supports providers including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Mistral, Groq, xAI, OpenRouter and more, with an API key or, for providers that offer it, a subscription login. Then choose a model with /model.

Frontend saves your Pi logins, encrypted, to your Frontend account, so Pi is ready on your other projects and on either runtime. Run /logout to remove a provider’s credentials.

Pi doesn’t support MCP, so it doesn’t use the project’s MCP servers. Use Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode for tasks that need the project’s database, media or integration tools.

Pi reads AGENTS.md (or CLAUDE.md) from the project for instructions such as commands to run and conventions to follow. See configuring Pi.
